Knate koti (Areipeleng Mogomotsi Mona) was born in Bloemfontein South Africa on the 18th of September.  He spent most of his life in Bloemfontein with a very nomadic family that moved from location to location.  He fell in love with music at very young age but specifically with house music at the age of 9 years.  By then,  he had been influenced by some of the great South African legends like DJ Fresh,  Glen Lewis,  Ganyane,  Masters at Work and the late DJ Khabzela to name a few.  At a later stage,  he moved from listening to compilations to listening to the actual music of producers like Franck Roger,  Kerri Chandler,  Osunlade,  Julien Jabre,  Gregory Darsa,  Charles Webster,  etc.

With his great ear for music he managed to meet up with people that helped him to realise his dream of making music.  In 2006 he was introduced to music production by a friend and together they formed a Duo called "Nsk & Knate".

Knate Koti always wanted to DJ as hobby or rather as an extra neural activity while still pursuing his Academic career of being a public official.  He studied at Central University of Technology with a Degree in Public management.  After finishing his studies,  he had difficulties in getting employed in his field of study.  So,  he then spent more time on music production.  That time very crucial for him because that was when he decided to make making music his life.  In 2013 He did his 1st remix project for a song by Thatojazz f.t Myza - Anniversary.  He infused a touch of deep dubby music on the remix. In 2014 he got signed with Ancestral Recordings and released a debut E.P called My City that consisted of three tracks with a touch of Afro/Soul/Deep.  His sound has been escalating from then on.  As Knate is constantly exploring new styles and genres,  his musical stylings promise to thrill his fans for years to come.  Recondite Tryst Podcast is one of the initiatives He took to create a plat-form for showcasing his talent of both dee-jaying and music production.  Some of the mixtapes published in his podomadic include tracks that he produced,  including:  "Knate Koti- Ground zero" & "Knate Koti- Lost customs".  2016 finds Knate joining forces with House Music upstart House Ministy.  Stay tuned.
